Craig Scott, a Louisiana native, is a very unassuming man when you first meet him. But give him a few moments and his harmonica, and be prepared for a blues experience of a lifetime. I first met Craig while walking beneath the giant oaks of Audubon Park. When, I heard him playing the blues from almost a mile away, I knew that this was someone I had to feature on Cajun Images. Craig has been blowing the harmonica off and on for over thirty years. His compositions sing a tale of heartache and sadness. Craig explains, "This is what the blues is about. By listening to other people's stories and pain, you gain perspective on your problems. You hear their pain and it makes your heart feel lighter. It brings us all together. " "I roamed around during my younger days. Louisiana holds up to reputation as a party [state]. But for me now it is all about the business at hand. Raising a family and working." Craig said. From looking around Craig's house of all the pictures of his loved ones it was obvious that he meant what he said. When I listened to him play, I knew that he had a gift far greater than knowing how to play an instrument. "What I know, they don't teach you in school." Craig said. He is so right. It is not just that Craig could sing the blues. It was that through his singing your spirit rose. So in a stolen moment between coming home from a hard day's work and getting ready for bed, we recorded the five songs below. I hope you enjoy listening to another Louisiana Hero!
